Excited with this purchase
Just got my mounting block and am pleased with its sturdiness! I was a little worried with the other comments but have already used it on a few different terrains with no balance issues. I got purple I’m happy with the color. It’s a good weight and size (I find it easy to mount with). My only “negative” is that it doesn’t latch but there is a place for a lock which can hold the top shut. I thought it would catch but it doesn’t. Anyways. Not a big deal. I like the little compartment. I don’t think it would be a prob in the rain but mine lives in my trailer tack room so not an issue.

tippy and unsteady
This is not a normal sized mounting block. The step platforms are only 7”x15”. Compared to other models which have a solid 10”x20” Step platforms . It has a high center of gravity which makes it very unstable even on a flat surface. The top step is a lid and can tip open and throw you offf and under the horse. I replaced this after too many people were bucked off before they even got on their horse.

Higher than 2 steps, but needs better grab handle
This had been working great. Only issue is the grab handle pocket needs to be on different place. We stand on the left of the steps. Why not putting a handle in the place so that its easier to move when we're trying to mount.

Good product
I have had mine for over 8 years and I don't think it has ever spend a day inside--always out in the ring. Unlike some of the reviews, I find it stable and safe for mounting. The compartment is not useful, however. It usually fills with water after a rain, even if the top is closed.

These are a life saver
being 5'3 and having a 17.2 hand tb mare wasn't the smartest move on my part, but I needed all the help I could get getting on her, so I bought the three step mounting block, I love it! I use it for everything everything the house and barn, not just for getting on my horse!!

Most unstable of my mounting blocks
I find the three-step version of this block to be quite unstable - I am going to give it away and buy one with a wider top and more stable base

Well built but....
This is a very high quality and well made mounting block, but not the most well designed. Although it was very durable, it was not very steady and actually quite scary to stand on the top step (I usually just used the second one). Even when we tried to find the most level, flat place in our arena, it was really tippy. There also wasn't one of those little indents for your hand so it was hard to move closer to your horse with one hand.
