Well Made and Effective
I have a forward OTTB mare who benefits from a pelham bit from time to time. I mix this one up with a snaffle bit that looks almost identical to this bit. My mare is is super soft in this pelham and it so much more respectful under saddle. Because of this, I can actually be much softer and give her more rein than in a normal bit. She also gets nicely rounded and supple. Very well made product. I use it with the gel curb chain cover from Smartpak and only use the curb loosely.

Great for tuning up!
My OTTB tends to get quite strong when jumping, which often led to me doing way too much with my hands. We've used this pelham for about 5 rides, and I have been able to much less and be much more still and quiet with my hands. I recently rode him in his usual KK, and he was beautifully tuned up to the softer aids. His self-carriage was better and my hands were much steadier. We'll be using the KK for dressage at shows, but we've definitely found our new jumping bit!

Worth every penny
We decided to try a Pelham on one of our mares who has been getting a bit strong in the jumping ring. I bought this particular bit because it was the only one that comes in the size I needed (at Smartpak).Given that we hadn't tried a Pelham yet, I was a little reluctant to spend a little more on this bit. I'm very impressed with the quality, and it has made all the difference in our mare. I'm confident that this bit will hold up for many years.

Just what my OTTB needed!
My OTTB likes to lean against mouth pressure because that's how they're taught on the track, so I've been playing with things that add some action on other places to help her understand the new way of doing things and not make her mouth hard fighting. So far this is what she's gone the best in. I don't understand why more brands don't make double broken pelhams, because it was really hard to find one.

Excellent, effective bit
This is my favorite bit. It works for my hot mare and my quiet gelding who both need a little extra in the show ring. It is very effective with the short shank for a little bit of leverage and the the chain lies very nicely under the chin. Love the design of this bit: the hooks are much better than the S-hooks and the chain never pops off. Both horses do not fuss in this bit; they accept it very well. The link is perfect for mouth anatomy. Highly recommended bit!

The unicorn I was searching for!
I bought this bit crossing my fingers, saying a little prayer and sprinkled a little fairy dust for good measure... paid the over night fee and boom!! 24 hrs later Magic happened! Excellent customer service at SmartPak as always and love the return policy. The Bit is well made and exactly what my horse and I needed!

Great, simple pelham
I bought this to use for my mare occasionally, as she has a tendency to stop listening to me when we jump. This bit has the perfect amount of leverage, without being too intense. I love the short shank and everything is very smooth and well made. Definitely worth the price!

Short shank double jointed Pelham from Stubben
My mare likes this bit. Needed something extra over fences without putting anything harsh in her mouth. Tried full cheek, slow twist etc, but mare still worried. She is like butter in this. Yeah!

Too harsh action
Great quality, but a poor design for a bit. The combination of the jointed mouth piece and the curb sends conflicting signals. I highly recommend that anyone who is having training issues to use a snaffle and get a good trainer. The "brakes" this bit gives you is pain in the mouth. Smartpak has some very ethical bits for sale, and this is not one of them.

Solid, must-have bit
This is a solid, well-made bit as expected from Stubben. Worth the price tag for the quality machining (smooth connections everywhere) since this is a bit you know you'll have in your collection for good. I personally think this one is equally as good as anything more expensive like the Sprengers. Comes with a chain.
