Rated 1 out of 5 by Pompeiii from Water resistant’s a stretch — soaked in light rain “Water resistant to keep you dry and warm” is very generous. I understand that the coat is not waterproof, but walking outside for 15 minutes in lightish rain should not leave the entire coat soaked through (the hood was surprisingly dry as were the elastic cuffs). For comparison, my dog in her fleece was bone dry. The coat is a great fit, I love so much about it, but if I can’t walk outside in precipitation, what’s the point? Sunny coat only? Don’t wear if storm clouds are in the sky?

Rated 5 out of 5 by SmartPaker Alissa from Stylish and Functional Coat! This is the perfect winter coat both in and out of the barn! I love how flattering the fit is, and this is my go-to jacket for cold weather walks with my dog and grooming my horse. It’s also super convenient to have a zipper on the back in case I want to hop on my horse for a winter ride while staying toasty warm. The front pockets are great for stashing horse or dog treats, and the hood comes complete with a magnet to hold it in place on your back when not in use. Plus it’s easy to throw in the wash and the jacket comes out looking brand new. I look forward to many more winters with this Piper coat!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Shari from Awesome upgrade from the original This would have been 5 stars except for the zipper. I have the original trainer coat and this is a huge improvement. Much easier to move in, love the thumb holes in the cuffs, super warm and the hood stays in place better. It’s just the darn zipper that still is wonky. It is definitely better than the original though but still can be difficult to get started occasionally. Definitely worth buying though especially if you have the original, you will love the improvements! I can actually ride in this one and fully move my arms compared to the original.

While I love the coat (the length, style, fit, and warmth) the zipper is terrible (gets stuck and needs to be lined up just right to zip up/down) and the seams ripped on both the side pockets so the pockets are open now. Very disappointing.

The Piper Trainer's Coat II by SmartPak is a super comfortable jacket and warm. Feels like I’m wearing my comforter, but it’s not bulky. This is the only coat I have worn all winter. Everywhere I go people ask where I got it. It is cozy and warm through the coldest of winter weather. The fit and length are perfect. It has pockets, pockets, and more pockets. There are plenty of places to keep your phone, keys, horse treats, etc. safe and dry. The Piper Trainer's Coat is Fashionable and functional for cold weather warmth. Another winner from SmartPak!!!
