This rub guard has been used 6 times is already worn through on both sides! I’m very disappointed.

Good until it stretches out
Last year I bought this to try because it’s cheaper than the Equifit belly band. I found it to be very comparable in material, size, etc. Similar to the Equifit belly band they eventually stretch out over time. Now I feel stuck because mine is still in good working condition but I can’t get it tight enough to stay in place. It slips back durning my ride and it did not previously do that. Without the hooks the Equifit one has for the d rings, I’m not sure how to keep using it. So it was a cost savings initially but now will cost me more because I have to replace more often. Therefore, I don’t recommend.

Zero Stars
I was using a barn mats Equifit belly band and thought I’d save some money and try the Smartpak one. Since the Smartpak one doesn’t have the D ring hooks that hook onto the saddle it moved so far back while riding. Glad my young horse didn’t buck me off. Picture is of our post ride.

Rubbed hair off
Bought due to a spur rub on a very sensitive OTTB. It rubbed off a ton of hair on both of his sides (not on top of back or belly) in first use. Disappointing. But appreciate Smartpak’s customer service

Stays in Place!
I bought this rub guard because I was struggling with some bug bites that turned into rubs by the girth. This was a lifesaver and allowed me to keep riding without making the rubs worse and allowing them to properly heal without causing my horse any discomfort. I found this rub guard much easier to use than other similar products I’ve tried. It stays put and doesn’t slide around while riding. The two straps on each side do a great job helping to keep everything in place. I also like that there aren’t any excess straps on top or any seams along the spine or under the saddle. The material is thin, but very durable and has a good amount of stretch to it. My horse wears a 54” girth and I got the oversize in this, and it fits him perfectly. This rub guard is super easy to care for, I usually let it air dry after it gets sweaty and after a handful of uses I will either hose down in the wash stall or throw it in the wash on cold and hang it to dry.

Comparable to Equifit belly band
I decided to try the Smartpak version of this belly band since it was cheaper than the Equifit version. The material seems the same. The smartpak band does not have the 2 straps that clip to the D-rings on the front of the saddle. I’ve used it for several rides and I don’t have any issues with it sliding back. So this one is cheaper and a bit faster to tack up. So overall pleased with it.
