Not Great Quality and Reins Hurt Hands
This martingale will get the job done, but the leather does not look good quality and the reins are a rope type material and are extremely stiff. I don't think they would hold up well overtime. Even through gloves they hurt my hands. I will be returning these.

Good martingale but needs a few improvements
The German Martingale overall is nice. I was impressed with the soft leather and the web reins are not stiff like some other brands. Cons, the clips that snap onto the reins are cheap and open up while riding. I had to take it to a leather shop and have the clips replaced. The martingale could be a little smaller, I wish it came in cob size.

Horrible product - very disappointed
I borrowed a german martingale set from someone in my barn that worked successfully. They said they purchased it from SmartPak so I ordered the 'same' one. What arrived was a very cheap knock off. The one I borrowed was black with rubber non-slip reins, swivel snaps and adjustable features. The product that arrived lacked any adjustable features, set clips, few adjustments in sizing so that it did not fit my horse and cheap quality leather. I'm returning this horrible product as it is unusable on my horse.

Great adjustability
Overall I love this product. My gelding tends to be in between horse and cob size so I was worried it would be too big but it’s super adjustable. Only thing I don’t love are the web reins, they’re a little rough.

Quality is subpar..
Sadly the quality of this German martingale leaves a lot to be desired. The leather and hardware quality is fine for the price point.
I have owned this set up for a couple of years and probably used it once or twice every month, so not often at all. Today the leather stopper ripped off the webbed rein (picture attached), something that I have never had happen. The other stoppers are beginning to show wear as well. Unfortunately, when it’s time to invest in another German martingale I’m going to have to look into other brands.

Clips to reins don't stay closed
I've used it twice, clips that attach to rein metal loops don't stay closed.
Also recommend a DESIGN CHANGE, if the "draw reins" that attach to the center chest piece had clips to remove the draw rein part would be handy for leading etc.
All made of Cheap leather/pleather, should have just bought the $30 set.

Needs sized better
We bought this at the farm I work at for horses who struggle with wanting to go too high/above the bit since we couldn't find the old German martingale. Overall, it's a decent martingale. The leather is easy to work with/break in, and I love the web reins, as they are soft and easy to maneuver. Measurements and sizing have something to be desired, however. The loop at the girth is borderline too small (just fits around the fleece girth I use on the setting I need it), the draw straps need to either be shorter, or there needs to be more D rings, and the neck strap could go a bit longer. The horse we purchased for initially (Corey) is a 17.2hh Oldenburg who believes he's part giraffe. A German martingale was the perfect aid as it simply puts pressure on when they raise their head too high, and releases the moment they soften (leaving less room for rider error as well!), and it has helped him more quickly and easily find his balance. It's definitely helped us get more accomplished during each ride, and has helped him to relax more quickly.
As to size issues, I have to set it on the shortest D ring for it to come on when it should, while the neck and martingale strap just fits on almost the loosest setting. It's disappointing as he's a large horse and I was hoping to use this on some of our smaller horses as well, but it won't do much good as-is. My ONLY complaint: please make this in cob size, and also make this one fit better. The ratio seems to be off. It runs both too large and too small at the same time!
