When fed with hay or pasture, 1/2 cup Barn Bag® (85 gm or 1 scoop in SmartPaks) fulfills the daily nutrient requirement of an average 1,000 lb. horse. 

Barn Bag® is a concentrated nutrient source, which unlike other feeding stuffs, contains a minimal amount of calories and starch. Barn Bag® is ideal for Easy Keepers and horses affected by obesity, Insulin Resistance, Cushing’s, or Metabolic Syndrome. Barn Bag® eliminates the need for compounded feeds.

Should your horse need additional calories to gain weight or for demanding tasks such as riding or competitions, you may add whole oats, beet pulp, or vegetable oil to this diet.

An 11 lb. bag is a 60 day supply for a 1,000 lb. adult horse in average activity.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I had my mare on this for many many years she is a super easy keeper fat in air so I took her off grain and switched to this and smartpak made it easy they sent her measured amount for each feeding with her supplements, and I read some people seen there horses lose weight on this so figured I’d give it a go too! With exercise and cut hay back years later still looks the same exact as before I put her on it! I kept her on it for so long because it was extra vitamins but I just switched her off to a ration balancer I buy at my local feed store i get 2 massive bags for the price of one month of smartpak barn bag so definitely cheaper to just buy any ration balencer at a grain store! And same vitamins and she loves it so I can’t say this did anything for her but cost a lot for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the perfect balancer to go with "Lite" I have a retired senior cushings horse on Triple Crown Lite, pasture, and hay. I started using FeedXL and discovered the answer to my question why my horse wasn't quite looking so well and a bit off his feed. It turned out he was missing some key items in his diet (which could reduce appetite) despite getting the full amount of grain. BarnBag was just what was needed to balance out his ration and now he is eating better, holding his weight and he loves the pellets, they smell wonderful! It comes in a truly vacuum packed bag, you can hear it when you cut into it, so I feel like it is as fresh as it can be when I open it. The 1/2 cup per day is a reasonable amount, just supply your own scoop. I nabbed one of the many in my kitchen. Compared to other balancers the price is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE this stuff! My four horses have been on this for a few months now and I really like what is does for them. For my easy keepers, I feed this with a little bit of flax for shine and overall health and they look great. They're getting all the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients they need without extra calories. For my thoroughbreds, I add this to their daily grain rations and have been able to reduce the amount of grain they get, which is better for their stomachs, and my wallet. I have tried a few other vit/min supplements and had some issues with them being palatable but all of mine gobble the Barn Bag balancer up, they'll even eat it right out of my hand like its a treat. It's nice knowing that all of my horses are getting the nutrients they need at an affordable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for easy keepers! My draft cross has been on this for a few months now. He is on pasture only (no grain) and stays slightly overweight. When he was moved to a dry lot half the day and an increased work load I tried this to make sure he was getting the vitamins/ minerals needed without extra fat/calories. This fit the bill and has worked wonderfully.

It's got a great amino acid profile, well balanced vitamins & minerals, and the nutrients are in a form that a horse can digest & utilize. I've never had one not eat it & it's good for all life stages.

He looked so good I also put my other horse on this, who is not an easy keeper and gets regular grain. They are both looking and feeling great.

Now,just 1/2 way through his first bag, he is happy, markedly more comfortable,is not lying down anymore!!! Thank you life data!
