Daily Dewormer
Daily dewormers come in pellets and contain a low dose of Pyrantel Tartrate. They are designed to be fed every day to prevent parasite infestations before they cause damage. Before starting a daily dewormer, manufacturers recommend dosing a horse with a larvacidal dewormer such as ivermectin or moxidectin to “purge” any existing larval and adult stages of worms. In addition, horses should be given ivermectin or moxidectin once or twice each year to control bots, as well as praziquantel once or twice a year to control tapeworms.
